On Youtube, I came across yesterday quite by chance on this very nice video, in which the German philosopher and theologian Theodor W. Adorno expresses with his thoughts about conformism and too strong social adjustment. Timeless, to the point and still absolutely true.

The video has the following description:

The three main fields of observation of Critical Theory are the economy, the development of the individual, and culture. In a combination of Marxist and psychoanalytic perspectives, society in particular is viewed critically. It is not only understood as a set of people in a certain time, but analyzed social conditions that are overpowering the individual and restricting the character and opportunities for action of the people. A special mediating role in the stabilization of domination comes from the family socialization (family as a "psychosocial agency"), the mass media and mass culture. In the capitalist society, an increasing alienation occurs through increasing mechanization, scientific progress and the resulting bureaucracy: the meaning of the individual is lost. Although Enlightenment reason regarded the attainment of true knowledge of the world as the essence of man, this reason had turned into an instrumental and purposive one. This instrumental reason regards people and people solely in terms of utility. The relations between the individuals, so the argumentation, are largely objectified and objectified by the dissolution of traditional ties. They increasingly reduced to mere exchange. Ultimately, the result is a "totally managed world that exerts comprehensive social control over the individual and consistently suppresses idealism, nonconformity, unconventionality or creativity as it runs counter to its character.

Hello Mr. Salwiczek, just the fact that you still think about it, shows that you are not yet totally adjusted. Otherwise one would not care.
