Inefficient work annoys!
For researching my book "I hate teams! So I wanted to know more about how you survive the week with colleagues, "which I co-authored with Thorsten Visbal. We asked 104 people from different hierarchy levels and professional groups and found out:
In practice, the success of collaboration through egoism, power needs and under-taking of responsibility by individual team members is disrupted. Around half of the people surveyed work more efficiently on their own than in the past Team.
Team affinity or not?
The average value on a scale from 1 (single fighter) to 10 (team owner) was 5,4, whereas employees without personnel responsibility rated the teamwork with 5,8 the most positive. Self-employed and executives were less team-affiliated with 5,3 and 5,1. The group of persons of the normal employees without management responsibility likes to work with colleagues, but disturbed itself nothingdestrotz by the side effects.
36% of all interviewees is inefficient. Negative transient effects (23%) and poor communication (16%) have been reported as unfavorable. Unproductive meetings with 7% are another team obstacle.
Single fighter mentality
The result shows that teamwork often does not work in practice. This is due to the conviction in Germany that teamworkers are being sought in the job vacancies, but in reality individualists have made a career. This is even more pronounced in Germany than in other countries.
The reason for this is that the performance of the individual, and not the one of the team, is still valued first and foremost. Above all, a change in the mind must take place here. An important step towards more team satisfaction is that colleagues learn to recognize and appreciate the skills of the other team members.
In the survey, however, we also found a secret recipe for the successful teamwork: appreciation against team members. A respectful and trustful approach to the eye, characterized by honesty and recognition, is often desired but rarely solved in practice.
Egoist behavior, power struggles and the laziness of individuals ensure instead that the child is spilled with the water and the teamwork itself is questioned instead of solving individual problems.
