Small words, great effect!


The word "or" is worth cash. And the word "because" is the "sesame-open-yourself" for many situations. Good to master such subtleties!

"Would you like an espresso or a schnapps"? With this "or" question many waiters lure their guests (for the benefit of their commission). Because if they do not offer the digestive or just one of the two alternatives, they sell much less espresso or brandy. The supposed alternative distracts from the unwanted third alternative ("nothing at all").

Equally effective the word "because". In psychological studies, it has been found that requests that follow "because" are given much more often than if they are not substantiated by "because." The trick: This works, even if the reasoning "because" is completely pointless.

A treasure trove for amateurs and professionals


Who in the topic "rhetoric"Is reasonably well versed, will already know one or the other of the phrases and persuasion and surprise techniques. And yet it will encounter many things that have long since been forgotten.
