Everything Eco?

Overview

The Greenshowroom at the Hotel Adlon wants to combine luxury and sustainability. As the latest craze we are presented with leather from specially cultivated organic salmon. With the ecological background knowledge, however, it is not so far: What makes the salmon to the bio salmon - misrepresentation.

The Austrian shoe designer Stefanie Stolitzka has created chucks made of deerskin, which are supposed to be really sustainable and healthy. Only the brine is not biodegradable, only recyclable. Because Stolitzka does not trust the organic soles. "There are no long-term studies and what does biodegradability bring if the sole disintegrates after half a year?"

Single pieces vs. mass products

Overview

She wants her pieces to be understood as individual pieces and to convey the concept behind each individual customer: "People should wear their shoes because they really care about it. Not because they are inn. "Therefore, they do not aim for a large market.

However, if a co-operation partner offers itself, it would also go into mass production. "The production is very time consuming," she says apologetically.

Men in High Heels - Statement for Women's Rights?

Overview

In the Mercedes Benz fashion week at the Brandenburg Gate, designer Marcel Ostertag finished his own show - in mini skirt and grime jacket from the current collection, pantyhose, high heels and colorful strands in the long, waving hair. It did not look ridiculous, but more elegant than many a model, as he skilfully walked along the catwalk.

The applause he received shows that such a picture is still unusual. When I go to the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes in Toronto, where men in the high-heels of their wives went out on the streets to demonstrate against violence against women, that is for me a quite political dimension. Speaking of violence against women - what does it say about high-heels now?

Of bottles and cunning Schlingerln

Overview

Mineral water maker Vöslauer was waiting with an innovation, which is now not quite so new, but is something I would really like from fashion: practical comfort.

Martin Eicher, responsible for export marketing at Vöslauer, did not even understand at the beginning that a bottle needed a carrying ring. The idea came to that Company 2008 because they wanted to support their customers Austrian Airlines, who wanted to hang the bottles in first class.

Meanwhile, the Pocket Ring, as the official name, but also established in everyday life: "The idea is very practical, for example, if you have books under the arms," Martin explains to me and reveals how the practical ring actually "clever Should be called "Schlingerl".

Rugs for dressing and celebrities

Overview

One of the highlights was the carpet fashion collection by German-Canadian Kirsten Korhani, this time under the motto Marlene Dietricht. I already wrote last year about their ingenious marketing idea of promoting your company's rugs through a rug fashion collection.

But even those who wanted to see some celebrities, got their money - here, for example, Cosma Shiva Hagen and the inevitable Bruce Darnell.Sustainability, men in high heels and celebrities: highlights and trends from the Berlin Fashion Week OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It's interesting that always the same people comment on such topics :-)

That's why I'm writing as a "newbie" or NewComer:

    Es
has lasted far beyond 10 years, the woman prevailed herself
emancipated and self-made, so it would be a miracle if
that would be faster in men ;-)

However, what do high heels have, what they reserve exclusively for the women?

    Only
because this has been going on for years and can now attract women
what you want ? From the jumper boots over suit and tie is
in a woman always everything pretty and fitting, but if a man, and
I am absolutely hetero, not transvestite and I do not want to be in that
change sex, sometimes in high heels without skirt
or dress, then he is gay or perverse.

    One is
Sure, I'm a hetero man who would be super interested in the location
has a fashion catalog 999 pages for the woman and 2 pages for the man
to change and above all, I very much like to walk in high heels and
trotze the glances of those who then take me for gay, without me
because it's just a great way to go in these shoes.

High = high and heels = shoes, so that means nowhere that it is women's shoes! (Source Wikipedia)

    Es
is fun, looks good and just because the woman thinks it would be
unmanly or fear has lost one of their domains, namely the
sexy high heels for themselves, are far from all the
    get inspired, somehow disturbed! ;-)

    unmanly
at best men who are not authentic and can not get through
Everything else is in the eye of the beholder and they could be
convince, if there were more and more men who dare, because it
does she give ! Lots !

    Live and let live …

Hello Andrew, Thanks for the super-detailed post. Yesterday, by the way, I met some very sexy men in skirts. Everything works ;-)

  3. Juergen64

Not only do I not see a connection to women's rights, I do not even see a sexual connection there. Clothes are fashion and therefore subject to constant change. For example, heel shoes are an invention of and for men, namely for riders around the time of Louis XIV, who found better heels in their stirrups with their heels. In the women's fashion, they found only a good 100 years ago, so relatively new. Even the mini skirt was worn by the Romans over 2000 years, but only by men - in the women's fashion, he found only about 50 years ago! Incidentally, the tights also came from the Middle Ages, and were also a development for the men, whose skirts were getting shorter and shorter at the time.

Even if in the present time these garments are connoted in the eyes of some contemporaries / genossinen female, why should I as a man defend myself against it? Is female derogatory? Pardon, but I married my wife because I like her!

    • Simone Janson

Hello Juergen64, thanks for the comment. I think that's great! I seem to have met a nerve there - I will take up the topic again in a separate contribution and illuminate.

  4. Teerpirat

I do not know why heels should have something to do with women's rights.
There are mainly shoes only. But why men are hitherto categorically excluded from wearing high heels and are not recognized by society is still a mystery to me. Finally, paragraphs were originally intended to be found in the stirrups while riding. They were intended exclusively for men 's shoes / boots.
And the number of men who want to wear high heels is, to my knowledge, very high, so it would be a market that can be used. If industry / trade do not want to profit from it, they will be cutting their own branch on which they are sitting. Because more and more men no longer want to wear the ever-boring treads, and use more and more unisex-extravagant models from the women's department, since so slowly but surely also larger sizes are offered.
It does not have to be equal to 10cm stilettos, I think 5cm would be a pretty good start. The designers have shown that creations are possible, which are very suitable for men.
Only the trendscouts have to finally make field studies to find out what men really want. Or are they actually so blind and miss the chance to open up a new market.
The cosmetics industry has managed to integrate the men into their target group, why does it not work with the shoemode or the men's fashion in general?

    • Simone Janson

Thank you for closing my educational gap to the historical origin of paragraphs - again something learned.
Thanks otherwise for the really great comment - I was not aware that the interest in the topic paragraphs for men is so great.

  5. Itter

Where is the problem when men wear heels or even more feminine shoes?

If it fits the outfit, it's no problem. It does not always have something to do with ladies' laundry wearers.

I also like to wear heels, pumps and ballerinas to jeans and shirt, because just kept simple. I also do not see it as a statement of women's rights. For one thing I do not like what we men have been for years in unimaginative shoemode in always equal cuts presupposed and break accordingly

from this cycle, and on the other hand I see it as a statemant for men's rights who want to go new ways. Women like to wear things from our wardrobe and it is considered as normal, but if a man wants to demand equal rights, the establishment soon goes under.

I do not see this just as fair, not even, every time a fashion designer turns this

Tehmas, he is immediately crushed and torn by the relevant specialist press.

I think it should slowly take a rethink.

    • Simone Janson

      Hello Itter,
thank you for the cool comment, especially to the unimaginative male shoemode!
I have a problem with high heels as a woman, I prefer comfortable shoes. So maybe the prejudice.
