It can be nice. In this way, the Internet gives us the opportunity to find and maintain contact with distant people. It helps us to find friends long past or to exchange ideas with people all over the world on a specific topic. And last but not least, it also allows us to do our work faster, better and more efficiently.
Self-determination on the advance
The fact is: With a stronger orientation towards fully result-oriented work environments, more and more of us can decide when, how long in a row, with which breaks and from which location we want to work.
If the clearly recognizable trend towards the value of “more” family continues, this possibility will not only be welcomed, it will be demanded. The market situation will favor and accelerate this development. In production plants or in healthcare, however, these ideas find their system-related limits.
Pathetic situation, prison dilemma or approach?
But the internet and digital work also pose problems: On the one hand, the colorful web is also seductive, because studies from perception research show that the human brain is actually not made for the internet. The reason for this is that virtuality is perceived as real, because like the reality itself, it is only constructed from the perception of our senses.

The solution to the problem: face the curse
So what to do? Switch off the computer, just go outside, just live and work where you are? Certainly better than getting tangled in the vastness of the Internet. But restricting yourself to the local conditions and just being content with what is there is a real step backwards, highly conservative and comfortable. At a time when we have to be constantly mobile and flexible due to work, it would be stupid not to use the opportunities that the Internet offers.
Because no other medium offers us the opportunity to maintain contacts and close interpersonal relationships even over a greater distance and thus to work together productively. Because that is the real opportunity that the Internet offers us: We no longer have to limit ourselves to the circumstances of our workplace and place of residence, but have practically the whole world at our disposal.
Use progress for a better working life
This is real progress, because you can only use it if you interlink the Internet with real life: Because, for example, contacts on the Internet cannot be a substitute for meeting people in reality.
But they can be the springboard to visit other people, network with them and start joint projects - no problem in the age of low-cost airlines, carpooling centers and saver fares on the railways. The internet can be the springboard for sharing creative ideas and collaborating with other people around the world. Provided, of course, that you don't make yourself comfortable in front of the computer.
