Career reorientation is a trend theme
Among the most read articles on Best of HR - Berufebilder.de® belongs to the topic of professional reorientation. Even with Google, these and similar terms are searched comparatively frequently. The desire to rearrange, but also the question of which profession fits (better) to me, seems to upset many people.
This is hardly surprising in our time of increasing flexibility: While in the past it was above all the secure income that counted for the job, today many are down-shifting financially: occupational satisfaction is more important to them than an income, which is no longer so today seems so safe.
Im the same job from education to pension? Germany vs. Germany Rest of the world!
Paradoxically, however, there is still the opinion in many, especially German, minds that one has to have the same job from education to retirement. Especially in Anglo-Saxon foreign countries, things are different.
This somewhat strange view, given the global trend, is even more relevant for human resource managers in Company: Breaks in the curriculum vitae are still viewed with skepticism, only those who have done their thing stringently are recognized.
The courage to start something new is not rewarded
And the courage to start something new is not rewarded, but judged to be aimless. Therefore, it is obviously important to package such breaks CV especially nice and conceal - even if it borders on Verarsche.
The Graduate student and career changer Regine Heidorn has noticed in job interviews that HR professionals are really scared to hire someone who is out of the ordinary. And since she does not want to gloss over the breaks in her CV, she prefers to search for and find jobs in her network and on Twitter in direct conversation with people she personally is good with.
Companies have disadvantages if they do without innovative lateral thinkers
How detrimental it can be for companies to renounce innovative lateral thinkers, some time ago the former personnel director of the Telekom and member of the Bundestag, Thomas Sattelberger, even two-time dropout, gave in the interview with the Tagesspiegel to consider.
There he warns of the efficiency-minded Barbies and Kens from the business schools, who believe the world is dominated by formulas. The result would always be the same trampled paths that were significantly responsible for the misguided leadership:
"But in many sectors ... traditional business models are breaking away. For true innovation, companies need lateral thinkers who dare to take new, off-the-beaten path. "
The selective education system is to blame
Communication strategist Helge Weinberg put one more on top and sees the blame for the foreseeable failure of the business model Germany in our selective education system, which excludes large parts of the population:
"It is enough to be upset that politics promotes an education system that is economically damaging to our country ... Social origin must not be an access criterion for education, because it only supports 'Kens and Barbies'. We renounce the ideas and impulses of further parts of the population. "
Sterotype selection culture continues to be popular in recruiting
Companies are therefore dependent on the innovative lateral entrants, but so far have afforded an extraordinarily stereotypical selection culture.
The question of when this will change, answered Sattelberger also immediately: He was confident that people could free themselves from their home-built cages.
Is Germany moving on or not?
Unfortunately I have to confess: If I look at how little moves in Germany and also in the mind and has moved in recent years, I'm rather skeptical.
And we are beginning to feel the effects, you just have to look at the daily chaos at Deutsche Bahn.
