Why we need clear goals
In order to derive an action from the intention, clear and unambiguous goals are needed. This would be our last concept and its psychological significance: objectives, the representatives for a concrete result to be achieved.
In doing so, goals help to concentrate the mental performance on the achievement of the goal, and actively support the search for the path leading from the intention to the result.
The more concrete, the better!
Goals are therefore very helpful when it comes to finding the right way to achieve a change.
The more concrete and specific these goals are, the better and faster we find the way there. Thus, from an intention becomes an action.
Why diet counselors are pointless
Many weight loss guides are based on showing ways to reduce weight. These advices are, at least for the most part, of great benefit, but assume that the intention to "lose weight" has become a goal.
This process can not be supported by a guidebook of the world because this is a very personal process. Overcoming the difficult process of dispensing with sweets or fat food can only be realized by each individual.
How intentions become real goals
It is crucial how well each person can regulate himself and control his moods. For science has shown that finding the right way to realize a goal, in this example weight loss, is intensely influenced by external affects, ie emotions, feelings and moods.
I show you this influence and the ability to self-regulate yourself with a concrete example. To properly understand the functioning of our brain as part of professional mood management, one has to understand why decisions are so difficult for us.
Afraid of change? Why?
There are constant changes, but they also often frighten us. An old proverb says: Nothing is as constant as change. But why does it make us so afraid?
We are afraid of the risk, afraid of the uncertain. But why are we struggling to implement decisions that we have made? And why do some people manage to change more easily than others? Answers to this are provided by science.
Answers from science
Numerous psychologists and more and more neurobiologists have dealt with this topic. The exciting thing for me is that we can just observe a fundamental change in psychology.
While classical psychology has always been criticized by the fact that it can explain human behavior only on the basis of theoretical models, today we are a step further.
Why do we think so and not otherwise?
The neurosciences are now so far that they can actually explain why we think the way we think, because of a new understanding of the functioning of our brain.
In this way, success and failure appear in a new light and new approaches are created to deal with change.
Change processes in Company
In my remarks, you will therefore be confronted with some of your acquaintances, especially the results of new studies. The focus is on the consideration of change processes in companies, because this is the daily practice of my work.
Whether it is the introduction of a new software in the field of accounting or the alignment of a company on new sales markets, I experience daily in my work with companies, as people fail to change.
