Whether homework, bachelor's and master's thesis or even a doctorate: Scientific work is one of the basic abilities to be acquired during a course of studies. And their importance is often underestimated.
Why is scientific writing important?
For scientific work methods are not useful for a career in science, but also in many other professions. If you want to be successful, you should be able to create concepts, formulate theses, formulate arguments in writing, and quote them correctly.
But exactly these numerous formal hurdles are a challenge for many students. As an example, here's just the citation, which can diverge considerably depending on the subject - confusion preprogrammed. To study this comprehensively, students often lack the time. After all, there is a lot left in the scholastic undergraduate system - not least the sound scientific examination of a question that really interests you.
Somehow you get through?
That's why many of them are moving somehow through house and graduation work. Or they resort to untrustworthy service providers, who take away the unpleasant work, but they are also blackmailable. It would be better, then, to deal with the subject of scientific work once and for all in a fundamental and well-founded way, until one is, so to speak, controlled in sleep. Step 1: Find & Limit the Theme
At the beginning there is always the topic finding. As a rule, the framework is already defined by the course. Often, the detailed discussion of a small sub-area is more suitable for scientific editing, while superficial texts are often less well-graded. The topic should also be managed in the given time and therefore not too extensive. Sense: In conversation with the supervisor, narrow the topic and avoid misunderstandings.
Attention: The importance of an exact choice of topics as well as the research question (see next step) is often underestimated: the more precisely the topic is delineated, the easier it is to organize and write the work afterwards.
Step 2: Work out the research question & method
Once the topic has been established, the research question and method should be found in the next step in order to know how to deal with the topic. All ideas should be logged and evaluated according to their relevance. Methods such as basestorming, clusters, mind and concept maps help.
Based on this collection, a thesis is formulated which has to be reviewed in the course of the scientific work - the central research question. This results in the methodology: Literary works are called if one can answer a question based on existing specialist literature. An empirical work is called when own data is collected to answer the question. This is done using data collection methods (experiment, questionnaire, observation, field research, analysis).
Step 3: Search for Literature
In addition to the selection of topics and the elaboration of the research question, there is also the search for the subject literature. It is necessary to set the theoretical framework. Underwriting literature is usually understood to mean past research results and specialist publications; You should not use popular scientific texts. It is advisable to summarize the research results in a list in order to keep an overview.
Suitable literature can be found in specialist and university libraries. In doing so, one should not only use the online catalog but also the keyword catalogs of the library, since older works are often not listed in the online catalogs. National and international catalogs are also very useful in the search for literature.
Helpful for finding journal articles, for example, are bibliographies, directories or specialist publications in which literature references are listed. Many sources can also be found on the internet, but their scientific validity should be checked.
