Change your perspective!
The glass is half empty or half full? We know that it would be better to look at the glass of life, of difficult tasks, of challenging crises optimistically and decisively as half-full.
But this way of thinking is often difficult for us. Perspective techniques make this perspective change so important for all living situations. One of these techniques even comes without words.
Smile and humor
What would be the worst that a superior, customer or colleague could do to you? To do so, formulate a sentence. One is enough. Say it halfway. How does that feel? Of course: bad. And now you say the same sentence with a Mickey Mouse voice - or any other funny or distorted voice that comes to mind. Sing him, squeal, shriek, whisper him. How does your mood change?
Incidentally, you do the same with the purely mimic change of perspective: smile! Now. No, do not stop again! Keep the smile 60 seconds - that's tough. Beginners rarely do that. The thereby released vegetative endorphins accomplish so to speak hormonally the change of perspective. Humor is one of the oldest techniques of refraining: When Uncle Karl broke the trousers at the back of Naumi's niece Leni's wedding, it was so embarrassing. But already at the next family birthday, who gave this story to the amusement of all for the best? Uncle Karl. He says: "If they are laughing, then please, because I tell the joke!" Perfect change of perspective.
The US scientist Dr. Juli Henderson is one of the world's leading luminaries of the so-called embodiment (reading tip: "Embodying Well-Being", AJZ Druck und Verlag). She has discovered and tested dozens of physical exercises that can somatic force a change in perspective.
You face a great challenge in your job and you are a little bit 'the thug', are you frustrated or 'down'? Then yawn. Once again. And again. Or shake yourself like a dog after a bath. Once again. And again. Or bounce up and down like a gumball. The somatopsychic view, not so crazy: All these exercises cause an immediate mood change. The only prerequisite is that your perception is sharp enough to recognize (and amplify) the change.
When everything happens, when everything goes down the drain, we can still stop the fall into hopelessness with a question and turn around. Guess them? Of course, what can I learn from it? Especially from disasters, we often learn more than from success - if we want to learn. Another change of perspective is:
What is the Sense behind all of this? Negotiating four hours without result with a customer who has already agreed and does not sign? What is the point of that? Good question. A saleswoman once told me: "That the next time I will notice after an hour if there is no conclusion."
And another perspective question: "What do I feel like? And what would be good for me? "A choleric manager confessed to me in the coaching:" To fold a defaulting employee - that rips me out of the day! But then I ask myself: Now you have irrepressible desire - but is that also good for you? And then I leave it. Anyway, more often than if I did not ask the question. "Perfect change of perspective.
Do you have a difficult task? Do you lose your desire to work? Before you get even harder to sit or do something stupid: change the perspective! There is nothing to lose - and to win everything.
