Meeting locations in Switzerland: From the cradle of winter sports to Zurich {Review}

Hotel Kulm, St. Moritz - cradle of winter sports

For guests of the Kronenhof, which I have already presented in the first part, the facilities of the traditional Kulm Hotel are available, whose founder, Johannes Badrutt, was able to inspire his English guests for the winter stay in Switzerland and thus invented winter sports. The journey is also quite easy: Swiss flies to Zurich, from there it takes the train to St. Moritz.

The Kulm has 173 rooms and suites, one Spa and a private golf course. The 9 meeting rooms have a maximum capacity of 500 persons in the large Corviglia hall.

Karge landscape, many activities

You have to like the barren landscape around St. Moritz - there are plenty of activities on offer: from rather atypical water sports such as Kyte-surfing on the Engadine Lakes, to equestrian sports and all the usual alpine sports.

We did a tour with eBikes - for the organizers, our 100 strong group was no problem -, took the mountain railway on the 2453 meter high Muottas Muragl and drive over the busy Albula Pass.

The red arrow “Churchill”

With the red arrow “Churchill”, the oldest road train of the Swiss Federal Railways SBB, you can continue to Zurich at a leisurely pace (maximum speed 150 km / h). The train dates from 1939 and was used by Winston Churchill in 1946.

It has 112 comfortable seats of the first class and can also be used for meetings, which is original, but due to the speed, swaying and tightness of the train from my point of view is not necessarily recommendable.

Zurich

Zurich is the largest metropolis in Switzerland with banking and economic metropolises and around 400.000 inhabitants. At the same time, the city alone is waiting for you by its location directly on Lake Zurich with an incomparable Alpine panorama with a series of exciting event facilities and locations. A combination that has inspired me.

Downtown

For example, you can rent various guildhouses for meetings and events directly in the beautiful city - a stylish historical ambience with room for the 100 people. Also very special is the luxury hotel Widder, which extends over nine historic residential buildings with 34 rooms and 15 suites.

Not only is the architecture a masterpiece, each room is individually furnished and furnished with furniture from Le Cobusier or Mies van der Rohe. Seven very different rooms are available for meetings and conferences, of which the largest, the Aries Hall, can accommodate up to 200 persons.

Zurich West

Unfortunately, the 25h hotel (126 room, 3 meeting rooms, which can be connected with space for a maximum of 100 people) and the Sheraton (197 room, 8 meeting rooms for a maximum of 230 people) are located directly next to each other.

For groups you can rent a tram of the Züricher Stadtwerke. For food and similar events, the Seerestaurant Quai 61 with a very nice location, if also a little slow service as well as the Sonnenberg Convention Center, which also has its own meeting center.
