The human factor must not be forgotten
There are a number of positive highlights in our survey. They show that the human factor is not forgotten by many of those surveyed. The majority of executives say that the top executives in their Company value their contribution. This also applies to their supervisor.
The survey also shows that employees are very committed - for example, because of the intention of leaders to stay in their organization and proud to work there. Similar levels of exposure were noted last year by 2010 in the Ashridge Management Index.
The main challenges for executives
However, these are the results of a group of executives, and we wonder whether each organization would achieve similar results in a general employee survey. There are two main challenges that organizations need to focus on:
- Work-Life Balance
- Better coordination between the offer of the companies and the statements of the executives motivate them
The importance of work-life balance
There seems to be a black-and-white approach of employers regarding the compatibility of work and private life. Some understand how important these issues are, but on the other hand, those employers who prefer not to perceive or openly discuss what is happening.
The latter is not only more negative for an organization that wants to be seen as a good employer, but also for a company that could undermine employee motivation.
The compatibility of work and private life
It is also clear that organizations that are more interested in the problem of reconciling work and private life offer a more caring environment in which employees are more likely to be valued. The other challenge affects the motivation, and there is a considerable number of managers who say that their organization is not pursuing the right approach to motivate them.
We also asked managers what motivates them and what they believe their organization needs them. An interesting difference between these two groups is the influence that leaders have in their organization. Managers want more - for example, the authority to stage their own show ", but say that their organizations do not appreciate the importance of this motivation.
Our recommendation: Check the motivation of your employees
Finding ways to fix it would help improve engagement and ultimately overall business performance. An executive commented, "Different people are motivated by different things. The leaders here have trouble understanding anyone who is not motivated by the same things they are. It would be a help if we could only clarify this. "
