The Süddeutschen was just reading, like herself HR Want statements in job interviews. Namely obviously nicely packed. It was about school leavers! And I asked myself when reading: Why always these silly games? Personnel are really happy, sorry, fooled?

Personnel are actually fooled prefer: The truth, but please nicely packed! Personnel are actually fooled prefer: The truth, but please nicely packed!

Always the same fat bottle?

Overview

In the article, which has just appeared, the 33-year-old Sandra Seedorf, Personnel Manager at the advertising agency Draftfcb in Hamburg wonders "that especially young applicants consistently aim for the same mistakes."

Tip: Text as PDF or podcast (please read the instructions!) or to this text complete eCourse Download. Regular promotions or news per Newsletter!

The answer is the same: The young people just have too little experience.

Do not personalities bear the truth?

Overview

So why should you? know suspect that the human resource managers seem to prefer to hear the nicely packaged (in) truth against better knowledge - perhaps because they can not stand the unvarnished truth? The question asked in the interview "Why do you want to us" of course everyone would like to have answered with "You are cool, you are the best!".

Which is understandable that one would like to find out in this way, if the applicant also has industry knowledge and really for the Company Interested. If that's really the case. I do not think that a school leaver can be expected to really make it through the industry. In fact, for most of them, as it says in the article, they look at the first five companies at the IHK - and just try it.

Charmingly packed - what a fool!

Overview

Personnel Seedorf, however, advises "to pack this more charming". For example, assuming that you happened to come to the company, but then got enthusiastic about customers or projects.

I asked myself: Why this circumstance and this waste of time - if, as a personnel, you know anyway that it is only nicely packaged? Why not be happy that the job candidate seems to be able to work efficiently?

Actually, it should be clear to everyone that the applicant does not live for the company!

Overview

And, of course, it is also clear to every person that applicants do not want to spend their lives in the office. At least it should be clear. The company finally does not give alms but wants to benefit from the labor force. This is a win-win situation for both, where the company can show that it is really a good job. And in the course of the personnel markings for the top workers also really important!

So what's the nonsense that applicants should not immediately after the next vacation or the hours to inquire? Who really takes off the applicant when he asks "in which team would I work?" Is the honest really the stupid again? And want to Personals, with the right to say, really fooled as it says in the article?

Thank you for this insight from the perspective of the applicant!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this article. You speak to me from the soul. In every application interview I have to go back to the theater again and every time I think that both sides know that it is bullshit.

Hi Karen, well ... I have, just because I also know counterexamples, quite surprised about the statements in the text. But in fact, I often had the impression that you had obviously taken with you from talks. This was one of the reasons for my self-employment.
Only, with a secure, indefinite job is nothing. But how did a friend get to the point: one must consider what is worse: The boss (edit: and thus the adjustment to such companies) or the uncertainty (edit: as a self-employed).
As I said, in the meantime I also know other examples - but to find them, it takes some patience and luck. Maybe one should not give up hope.

I find your text tip. He hits exactly the black, the HR professionals only want to show their "superiority", it is not about professional qualifications, but the homage to the company staff and just not too much personality.
    Thank you, keep it up.
    Regards
    Karen

Exactly what I meant synonymous: The text in the SZ shows for me, just how idiotic this question is ... Therefore, thanks for the beautiful objection .. thank you also for the naming of the full name - as you can see, not a matter of course for many commentators !

When I think of myself as a freelancer working in agencies or projects, I usually realize very quickly whether communication and mutual interest are right. This also applies to my counterpart. If I were asked why I would like to come to this company, I know it would be the wrong job for me. Why this question? Did not you notice which skills I imagine? Do not you know your own market position? Etc.
The only thing this question shows is boring personnel acquisition. That promises me nothing but a boring job with boring colleagues. No thanks.

    Hello Garbagesister,
Of course it is. Sure everyone knows (except the school leavers). But does it make sense?
I was less concerned with adding value to school leavers than generally thinking and discussing whether the statements made in the article make sense or not. That seems to have worked, as you can see.
A valid survey was also not intended - rather an exchange of views.
Therefore: Thank you for your opinion!
    gruß

  10. Garbagesister

Whether this discussion brings added value to school leavers, I think is questionable. Especially because everyone knows that individual opinions do not produce valid statements. And also that each personel knows in which of his questions is lied by the applicant. Since I find the claim to charming packaging quite charming.
But hey, as a blogger, you apparently have to write your permission with anything that was not on 3 on the tree ...
