Everyone takes a look inside and even adapts their own day, night and sleep rhythm to the start times of their favorite sport during the Olympics.
At the latest at the award ceremony, a patriotic gene shimmers through even the most sophisticated cosmopolitan, when he sees a local athlete on the podium on television. The medals shine and the whole world seems to listen to the national anthem.
The feeling "we are just who" controls for a certain moment the level of satisfaction with yourself and the world.
The sport between business and politics

Communicative "high flights"
If we look at the games from the point of view of communication, then once again an exciting aspect becomes recognizable in its concentrated form:
When athletes compete for the interview, it is always to be hoped that the gap between top athletic performance and the "hopefully-this-interview-soon-over" will not be too big for everyone involved. But not only the athletes are to blame.
Where is the creative question left?
From a language perspective, it is noticeable that certain reporters would benefit from a self-reflection in creative questions. Of course it also requires on reporter side of the necessary skill to accommodate as many questions in the short flight time.
However, questions such as "how did you experience the race?", "Why did not you win?" Or "are you happy that there are so many fans present?" Make it very difficult for the respondent to respond with real depth.
When asked in the finish area "Why did not you win?" A ski rider recently said "If I knew that, I would have done it differently from the start".
Or on the opener "Are you glad that so many fans are present?" They can not possibly answer with anything other than "yes" - catch question and very superficial ...
Communication characteristics: Who wins, looks for himself ...
In fact, certain communicative characteristics can be observed: whoever wins, seeks with himself! It is the "own" reasons, the so-called "internal attributions" that are in the foreground.
When asked, "Why did you win?" Answers usually follow, such as "We had an optimal preparation phase", "I was able to get the performance to the point" or "Everything worked out right from the start".
... who loses, explains it in the outside
Conversely, when losing, "external attributions" (or, more commonly, "reasons to be found outside") are heard very often:
"The luck was not on our / my side", "The weather conditions were borderline" or "The opponents today really everything fit, in top form is hard to beat". We rarely hear these two curves in reverse.
Communication with (olympic) spirit
Athletes are simply exposed. That's another reason why they are so nice to us. And let's take a look at our own everyday communication soon becomes clear: When it comes to mistakes or successes in (everyday) work, we often handle it as well.
Only with us does not always carry a TV camera our chats in the whole world. In that sense, let the Olympic spirit inspire our communication!
