Survey: Only one in three is still eating lunch
Especially when it gets hectic in the job, it depends on the supply of the right nutrients. Clever eating breaks provide energy and promote concentration. But which nutritional strategies boost the performance?

Good food is good for efficiency
The diet of many workers looks so one-sided. It is often eaten, which tastes good and quickly enough. A problematic tendency: Because the nutrient selection decides on performance and health especially in commercial occupations where physical effort is required.
As a power food, whole grain products, fruit, vegetables or yoghurt are top. A morning cereal with fresh fruits, for example, supplies the body with complex carbohydrates, which keep the blood sugar level constant in the mornings.
Vitamins for the power curve
This stabilizes the performance curve and helps to avoid stress-induced hot-throats. The anti-stress mineral magnesium or the nerve vitamins B1 and B6 are also packed with whole grain and vegetables - and a whole host of other vitamins and minerals.
Vitamins A, C and E, for example, protect the immune system. Because sitting in air-conditioned offices and the lack of sunlight permanently gnaws at the body's defenses. A consequence of such malnutrition can be read on the scales: Already every fifth employee carries too many pounds with him. Obesity limits flexibility in strenuous exercise and, in combination with heavy work, additionally strains bones and joints.
It also increases the risk of developing hypertension, type 2 diabetes or back pain.

Pay attention to calories - depending on your profession!
However, dieting is the wrong solution for people with physically demanding occupations. After all, their energy consumption is significantly higher than that of office workers. Anyone working as a bricklayer, roofer or painter uses more than 3000 kilocalories daily. This corresponds to the energy requirements of a competitive athlete.
But for office workers, the challenge is to get fed up as easily as possible. Since desk work - depending on age and weight - consumes only around one hundred calories per hour, the energy balance is quickly exceeded. If this happens permanently, then you will lose weight fast.
Hold figure and Schnitzelkoma
A lunch meal with lots of vegetables, salad and valuable protein: from fish, poultry or tofu. These low-fat protein sources saturate low in calories.
At the same time, they do not lead to the dreaded schnitzel coma - that is to say, the decline in performance after the canteen visit, which results from the digestive work of the body. Tip: If you walk a few steps around the office after lunch, you will be able to stimulate calorie burning and circulation in equal measure.
Employer: Danger recognized, not yet banned!
The companies have long since recognized the problem - albeit less out of caring for their employees than out of concern for human capital: "Good job performance is only possible if the nutrition is right," says Harriet Aans, CEO of Secretary Plus Germany ,

Helping people help themselves
The lack of the opportunity to eat healthy in the working restaurant at noon is a matter of personal initiative. Salads with legumes, vegetarian quiche or wraps with raw vegetables and turkey meat can be prepared to the house and give a full meal.
