Essential Leadership - again such a newfangled slogan from the management-speech? But Essential Leadership is much more:
An Essential Leader is a human connoisseur and knows how to lead and guide people by their very nature. He is interested in the essence and the uniqueness, he is able to connect them with otherness and thus cooperation and synergies in the Company to initiate.
Leader or Manager?
Management is a craft - leadership an art. Therefore, the skills a manager needs are different from those that make up a good leader. This attitude is completely gender independent.
In the Essential Leader, all female executives are naturally integrated as well. Therefore, I deliberately renounced the distinction and chose the Essential Leader as an integrative name.
Differing between directing and managing?
For example, leadership is possible without a problem if I do not understand everything in detail about the matter or the product.
Because leadership does not address processes, processes, quality, deadlines or methods - leadership is aimed at people and their willingness to take things into their own hands, bravely move forward and gladly accept challenges.
What is managing?
The manager then takes care of the details of processing and compliance with goals and metrics.
There are situations in the day-to-day business in which a manager has to take on leadership and a leader also has to be a manager. It is important that he behaves according to the role and takes the appropriate inner attitude.
Perform your own role correctly
This can be a dilemma when we mix the different meanings of the roles. This is so important because the environment perceives us in the way we behave.
Managers put the skills and competences of people in the right place, good leaders bring people into an inner state of willingness, willingness from the sense of belonging to the community of this company. In the normal operating environment, we call the personality of man.
Looking for the essentials
In this broad personality of a human being lies also what we call his essence or essence. If it is possible to speak and understand this essence, extraordinary consequences are possible.
This is the declared goal of the Essential Leaders. He takes care of the essentials in man and this essence that makes him.
More credibility for executives
For this he needs a deepened knowledge about the structure of the people around him and how they think and act. Re-actions always follow an action and its right actions are of the utmost importance to the essential leader.
83% of employees want more credibility for their executives. This means that more than three quarters of employees are convinced that their bosses are not completely honest. This is a shocking number. And it shows the importance of credibility for an essential leader.
Are bosses liar?
Does this mean that most executives deliberately want to blind their employees? I think no. The problem is that in the variety and speed of the leadership day, things are simply said quickly.
Often they are forgotten just as quickly, because they quickly lose meaning again, when something else becomes more important or at least appears so. Unfortunately, she only quickly forgot the transmitter, not the receiver.
Every offer creates an expectation
Commitments, yes already offers create expectations. Expectations for themselves are not bad. They get only a critical size when they are disappointed. Because every conflict, really everyone, is based on a disappointed expectation.
And expectations have a long half-life for the recipient. It is therefore crucial in essential leadership to maintain credibility. It is important to develop an exact self-awareness of what we “give” ourselves.
