Money is not everything, not even for the employee. Nevertheless, it would be wrong to dismiss the salary as a hygiene factor. Employers like Siemens, Roland Berger or BASF - who offer top compensation - find it easier to keep competent employees - and to attract new talent.

On the one hand, this includes a practiced positive corporate culture, transparency and general corporate morals. Equally important are factors that specifically affect the individual employee, such as an appropriate work-life balance, supervisor behavior and above all the ability to climb up the career ladder.

Pay increases only increase general employee satisfaction slightly

Overview

Money is not everything. A sense of righteousness. Therefore, the salary itself as a hygiene factor would be mistaken, would be wrong. Although the study shows that a wage increase of 10 percent only corresponds to an increase in the individual employee satisfaction rate of one percent, an elementary role is also played by the initial level when considering the remuneration.

The results are based on remuneration statements made between the 1. July 2014 and the 30. June 2016 were shared on the platform. Companies were considered for which 20 or more salary claims by employees from Germany were published on glassdoor.de during the stated period.

At Roland Berger, Siemens and BASF, mean income is highest

The ranking is headed by consulting firm Roland Berger and the industrial group Siemens. Here, according to salary figures of employees from Germany, employees earn on average about 81.000 Euro. This average annual income includes the basic salary including special payments and other individual remuneration.

Completed is the top three by BASF with a median salary of around 77.000 Euro. All companies from the list of employers with the highest average income come from Germany, focus branches are clearly the classical industry or the automobile sector as well as the banking sector.

Overview

The results of the earnings ranking for Germany show that employees earn particularly well with traditional companies. German industrial companies are prized worldwide for their quality and reliability, and it is no coincidence that Germany is one of the world's largest exporters.

A central cornerstone for this success is the well-trained staff, who have often worked in the company for many years and are closely connected with the company.
