Employer Branding in the Automotive Industry: As Popular as Ever
It's really amazing that the car industry is not coming out of national and international headlines, but its popularity as an employer does little to detract.
Once again, it is the large German car manufacturers that have been voted into the top spots in the universe employer rankings by the young professionals.
Top rankings for economists and engineers
In the categories Economics and Engineering, the BMW Group, Porsche, Audi and Daimler / Mercedes-Benz make the first four places among themselves.
Volkswagen is also in the top ten, even improving by two places in the category economics.
What does the Happiness Index mean for employers?
The layman is amazed, the expert wonders? Or? Not really! Because within the industry, there is the opinion that it can actually work very well in the automotive industry.
Who would have believed this? But in fact the “Happiness Index” shows this, which is based on the information from 7.996 respondents in the Young Professional survey.
How satisfied are Young Professionals with your employer?
The evaluation included how satisfied the young employees are with their current employer, how long they want to stay loyal to them and whether they would recommend him or her. Overall winner is the automotive industry including the automotive suppliers.
This is followed by Chemistry and Pharma / Biotech. Laggards are the sectors media / advertising, tourism / hospitality and fashion.
Talent management: Satisfied does not mean loyal
The surveyed young professionals from the automotive industry rate their satisfaction with the current employer with an average of 7,2 10 points - in the fashion industry there are just 6,0.
They also give high scores for the likelihood that they would recommend their current employer: average 7,1 10 points - 5,3 is in the fashion industry.

This is precisely where the key to the outstanding performance of car manufacturers in employer rankings could lie:
Those who work in the automotive industry are not only very satisfied, they also talk to others about it. And that's exactly what employers can do to get new skilled workers on board.
Young professionals are less loyal to their employer than in other industries
But of course, the fluctuation rate for employers also plays an extremely important role. And that shows that, compared to other sectors such as the chemical industry, young professionals are less loyal to their current employer.
Surprisingly, entire 59 percent of young professionals are interested in changing employers and making a career change within the next two years.
Positive effect on the employers of the automotive industry
Incidentally, this too is likely to have a positive rather than a negative effect on the ranking of automotive companies.
Of course, this only applies in the event that the young professionals actually want to change from one automobile company to another within their own industry.
High Potentials: It's all about the money?
In this context, of course, particularly interested in what the respondents especially appreciate the preferred employers from the automotive industry?
Here, as so often in professional life, different factors come together, but two stand out in particular: First and foremost, namely, a good basic salary and the market success and the prospect of a high income in the future.
