Avoid negative emotional states
It does not matter whether it leads to psychological damage and thus to negative emotional states through a single traumatic event or a permanent injury.
For example, in depression or persistent anxiety, sufferers are in a persistent negative emotional state, trying to reduce their negative feelings through their behavior.
Avoidance strategies are unsuccessful
If you are terrified of something, it seems more appealing to stay at home to avoid this "something", even though it knows at a logical level that this can not be a permanent solution.

Very few people can immediately call these psychological needs, which all individuals have in more or less pronounced form in common. But this statement is astonishing considering how central they are to the happiness and unhappiness of people.
Swarm intelligence
I do not ask for a new subject at school, but in my view, several lessons should be devoted to the basic needs of people. Using the so-called swarm intelligence of a group of maybe ten people (eg during trainings and workshops), one gets the five basic psychological needs relatively easy together.
Maybe you would like to think about the following question yourself (and take some notes):
What do I need to be really happy and satisfied?
What do I need to be really happy?
You've probably thought of one or the other of the following:

- I need love and close contacts with other people.
- I would like to know the value.
- I need fun and joy in my life.
- I need a goal, something to focus on.
- I want my life to be one Sense shows that things are coherent.
- I need a sense of security, control of my life.
- I need my faith in God or spirituality.
The 5 basic psychological needs
These aspects are mentioned again and again. Grawe has worked out exactly these needs, but in other words, on the basis of scientific studies, namely:
- The need for bonding
- The need for guidance and control
- The need for pleasure and lack of pleasure
- The need for self - improvement and self - protection and
- The need for coherence, consistency
These five needs are central to understanding emotional leadership. So let's take a closer look at them.
