ShinrinYoku - Forest Bathing Definition
ShinrinYoku, the Japanese term for forest bathing is a natural health and relaxation method. It counteracts various stress factors and relieves, for example, sleep disorders, aggressiveness, difficulty concentrating, hyperactivity and even pain.
"Dive into the forest air," is what the Japanese call it. Because the forest air contains substances that increase our immune defense, so-called terpene. Studies show that stays in nature and especially in fresh forest air have a healing effect on the human organism.
That's how ShinrinYoku works
The silence of the forest, the purity of the air and the color green have a positive influence on the physical regeneration processes of humans - they counteract the release of stress hormones and activate the natural immune defense. Forest walks should even be able to relieve pain and are used in anti-depression therapy.
The risk of cancer also decreases, the healing process for existing diseases is accelerated and the risk of heart and circulatory problems is reduced. The risk of stress-related illness or neurosis is reduced.
BurnOut therapy in the forest resort
No wonder that forest bathing is an integral part of Concept Waldresort is located in the small Thuringian town of Weberstedt. With its 26 holiday homes, each one simply but purposefully furnished with two bedrooms and a fitted bathroom, as well as an eat-in kitchen, the resort on 30.000 m² provides comfortable accommodation not only for conference guests, but also the ideal place to rest and rest in the peace of the forest ,
So, together with the renowned doctor from the BurnOut therapy, Dr. Matthias Becker developed a concept that helps to get back to work. The WaldResort also offers singing bowl meditation, yoga, QiGong and herbal cooking classes. There is also a sauna, a Kneipp pool and an outdoor sports park. Superfluous luxury is sought in vain, the resort actually helps to focus on the essentials.
Days in the forest Resort
For meetings and seminars there are four beautiful, bright and modern rooms available, the largest of them 115 m² in size and can accommodate up to 70 persons. It costs 8 Euro for 380 hours. From the meditation bench to the whiteboard marker, everything is in place, so conference guests only need to connect their laptop conveniently.
The conference program can also be extended, for example, by a stay in the forest, for example with a 2 to 3-hour walk in which the forest atmosphere is recorded with all your senses, sports or excursions in the area.
The largest deciduous forest area in Germany
Because the forest resort is located directly at the Hainich National Park, an almost completely wooded shell limestone ridge on the western edge of the Thuringian Basin. With its choice of 13.000 hectares, the Hainich is the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany.
But for decades it was also a restricted military area, expanded once again by the Wehrmacht, then by the Soviet army, and only released to 1991 for civilian use. Large areas of the forest were therefore hardly entered for many years and not used, so that there could develop the forest stands undisturbed. The most pristine forest presents itself near the former shooting ranges.
Over the peaks of the national park
On the 1. October 1996 decided the Thuringian state government an "integrated protection concept for the Hainich" with the goal of a national park expulsion. In May 1997, Angela Merkel visited as former Federal Environment Minister together with the Secretary of Defense Volker Rühe the area; both were impressed by the natural beech forests and the 7.500 large national park was expelled on 31.12.1997 in the southern part of Hainich.
Nature should develop here free of human influences. 2011 was added to the Hainich because of its global importance in the World Heritage list of UNESCO. A special way to discover the National Park is the treetop path. It winds for a length of 530 m from the lower crown area up to the tops of the jungle treetops. From here you can even see the Brocken.
Conferences in the historic Bad Langensalza
The treetop path cost 3 millions of euros, one of the donors was the spa town of Bad Langensalza, which, with a good number of 17.000 inhabitants, is one of the most historically important cities in Thuringia. It not only has a rich historic fabric and a walled-up area of 50 hectares, but also more exciting conference locations.
For example, the Friederikenschlösschen, in which today also the house of the guest is accommodated. This is a late Baroque pleasure palace, the 1749 / 50 was built for Friederike of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg in front of the eastern city wall and holds a ballroom on the upper floor for meetings.
Or the Japanese Garden of Bliss with several pavilions that would also be possible for smaller events. The main building is the glass-built two-story plant pavilion with a teahouse on the upper floor where you can attend the regular tea ceremony.
Worthwhile excursion destinations
The surrounding area also offers plenty of attractions: In Bad Langensalza itself, for example, once a year a medieval town festival takes place, during which many inhabitants and even the mayor are dressed in period costumes.
Another exciting destination is the wildcat village of Hütscheroda, in which four male specimens of the Hainich resident shy cat species can be found. You can also eat good home-style and stylish in Hütscheroda, namely in the Hotel Zum Herrenhaus.
