The 5 best locations to meet politicians: Days like Merkel and Obama to the G7 {Review}

There are exciting conference locations where you can meet politicians on a regular basis. We introduce the best.

1. Days like Angela Merkel and Barack Obama at the G7 summit: Schloss Elmau

In 2017, the G20 summit took place in Hamburg, where Germany took over the presidency. In 2015, the G7 summit took place in Schloss Elmau near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. An overview,

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

One of the best hotels worldwide

Schloss Elmau is, in my opinion rightly, one of the best hotels in the world and offers its guests a wide range of conference and relaxation options. And Garmisch-Partenkirchen, despite its fame as a ski resort and venue for the Winter Olympics, is a tranquil place.

The peak does not take place directly in Garmisch Partenkirchen, but in Elmau Castle, which is located a good distance outside in Grainau in a closed talkessel with a view of the picturesque Wettersteinwand.

The location

It is precisely this location that makes Schlos Elmau possible for the G7 summit: the basin can be almost hermetically sealed off. And there was a lot of argument about the idyllic landscape in advance. Environmentalists, for example, complained that natural flower meadows were destroyed for parking lots and helipads. Future protesters complain that they have no way of exercising their right to demonstrate.

And for security reasons, the residents of the region only learned shortly before how large the area was cordoned off in the middle of the high season of the Whitsun holidays and that even the Schengen Agreement had been suspended on the border with Austria.

Mixed feelings

There is no doubt that the residents of the region viewed the summit with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the expected drop in sales because not only all of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with its 2900 hotel beds and 3900 holiday apartments but also the hotels up to Munich were occupied during the Whitsun holidays of all places.

On the other hand, there was the worldwide advertising effect and the possibility of getting approved and financed roads and construction measures that had been planned for a long time. The summit also promoted the urgently needed expansion of WLAN.

Stay overnight like Angela Merkel at the G7 summit

Even if some things were dismantled afterwards, Schloss Elmau benefited most from the summit: Owner Dietmar Müller-Elmau created a retreat with its own spa especially for the G7 summit. In addition to the excellent service and the friendliness of the staff, I was particularly impressed by this: the view from the balcony when getting up in the morning was fabulous. And who doesn't want to sleep in the same bed as a head of state?

The 47 lavishly equipped suites and junior suites (55-210sqm), in which the heads of state stayed at the G7 summit, offer a wonderful view of the Wetterstein mountains and the castle park, which, due to its spaciousness, still looks empty and relaxing even when the hotel is busy.

The 5-star hotel is in a class of its own even without a retreat: There are, for example, 150 comfortably and luxuriously furnished rooms and suites (price from 300 euros / night), most of which are beginning due to the beautiful view to the south at about 20 square meters. Most of them are located next to the retreat on six floors in the south wing of the building.

Elephant round in the Alps

There are 4 restaurants: the La Salle with its parquet floor, the pillar columns and teak furniture, the Michelin star-crowned Luce d'Oro, the Fidelio or the Kaminstüberl. And there are two libraries, two bars with a fireplace, a lounge and a variety of Fashionshops even their own bookstore.

In addition to the excellent service, the hotel impresses above all with its furnishings: no modern, cool design, no baroque luxury as is otherwise known from many luxury hotels, but a cozy sense of style - and again and again elephants on pillows, blankets and on the walls. Dietmar Müller-Elmau is a big fan of animals.

6 times Pure cuisine

The hotel's six restaurants, which are not all open at the same time, have different offers: The largest is La Salle with an extensive buffet for breakfast and dinner, next to it is the excellent “Kaminstüberl” fondue restaurant

The Italian restaurant Luce d'Oro in the retreat is also very good, the Ananda in the bathhouse offers a somewhat reduced range of vegan dishes and is best recommended for breakfast. Finally, the Thai restaurant Fidelio was awarded 15 points in the Gault Millau 2017.

Cultural and social center

Elmau is not just a wellness hotel but a Luxury Spa and Cultural Hideaway. It looks back on a long tradition: Originally built during the First World War in the style of reform architecture, it was used in the coming decades as a mixture of monastery, country school, youth hostel and sanatorium a place of recreation.

In the year 1916 more than one hundred concerts were organized every year, from piano and song and chamber music events to occasional orchestral concerts and oratorios, Loriot, Rolf Boysen, Johannes Rau and Hilde Domin, but the hotel also has a national socialist The past, with which it is active today.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

Lord of the castle Dietmar Müller-Elmau took over the hotel in 1997 and created today's wellness-oriented concept: Among other things, the earlier “vacation from the me” became a “vacation for the me”.
A major fire destroyed two thirds of all rooms in 2005 and enabled Müller-Elmau to rebuild according to their own ideas, including larger and more luxurious rooms.

Conferences and meetings: cultural highlights

However, if you want to meet like Angela Merkel and Barack Obama, there are various rooms available for exclusive conferences, meetings and events of various sizes: On the one hand, the original castle, which offers rooms for 10 to 210 people, while in the retreat there is again space for Meetings for up to 90 people is possible. This shows that the department is still with today Company and politicians very popular, so met here on my arrival just a delegation from China.

The conference flat rates start from 79 euros per day and person - this includes lunch, two coffee breaks, two drinks per person and standard technology. All rooms can be equipped with the necessary technology (projector, screens, audio) for an extra charge - what is not there can of course be provided. The whole castle can be rented for 75.000 euros per day. Because of the high occupancy, you should inquire about events at least six months in advance.

Today, more than two hundred musical events are held annually in Schloss Elmau. In addition to classical music, Jazzmusik has also secured a firm position in recent years, as well as literary events and symposia.

The spa

At the heart of the hotel is the 5000 sqm Luxurious Spa in the bathhouse, and once again 2000 sqm in the retreat: In addition to saunas and hammam, you can enjoy views of the Wetterstein Mountains in 25 or 20 with long, warm infinity pools and brine pools indulge in one of the excellent treatments or massages.

Pleasant is also the large, park-like garden with tennis courts and all kinds of play equipment for children, such as trampolines and a yoga pavilion. Because Schloss Elmau sees itself as a family hotel. Nevertheless, you will not feel crowded even at high capacity, on the contrary, on comfortable loungers right on the stream can relax wonderfully.

An all-round great hotel in the lower price categories with correspondingly small rooms for the slightly narrower budget is affordable - with the same service, to which the half board also the food in the restaurants belongs.

First ladies on the Zugspitze?

However, the unique selling point of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is and remains the Zugspitze with 1,1 million visitors a year. There are function rooms for up to 600 people and four restaurants: the Gipfelalm and the Panorama directly below the summit, as well as the Sonnalpin and the Gletschergarten on the Zugspitzplatt.

Here, Galadinner can be organized with Bavarian and international cuisine as well as large events. The prices depend on the consumption. The German Football Association has already invited the press conference here or Porsche has organized product presentations.

With regard to the G7 summit, one remains calm: The Zugspitze will never be cordoned off exclusively for state guests. "If the First Ladies want to go on a trip to the Zugspitze, you have to share the Zugspitze with other guests," it says.

Manager jumping from the Olympic hill

The agency AlpinConvention also organizes unusual events: the managers jump from the Olympic ski jump or climb to the top of the Zugspitze to symbolically motivate the employees. Biathlon, ice building or ground fire can also be done on the Zugspitze.

Also otherwise Alpin Convention has some exciting locations on offer: such as the ice rink, various huts courts and entire mountains and villages can be rented as an event location. And even sustainable projects such as the joint construction of a bridge or a refuge can be realized. The hit with companies such as Microsoft, Siemens, Infinion or Rosch is still the Zugspitze - due to its symbolic character.

Logistics and catering

The G7 event, however, also presented the region with logistical challenges that one would hardly have thought of at first: for example the catering. And this does not mean the delivery of the food, but rather, for example, the accommodation of the caterers, who also need the appropriate staff. Therefore, not only well-known companies, but also local companies came into play.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen there is undoubtedly a whole series of exciting event locations, especially the Garmisch-Partenkirchen congress center with picturesque views of the surrounding Alps and a festive hall for up to 400 persons as well as the 800 square meter exhibition area and 12 group rooms, or the Spielcasino.

The newest hotel on site

Nevertheless, in the well-known place in the past many have been neglected, which gives even the tourism director. The congress center should be extended. And right at the place is missing a real 5 star-house. After all, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is easy to reach via the federal motorway A95 or the Inntal motorway A12 / E60. On weekends there are free ICE connections from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to several German cities as far as Stralsund, but the place is also reachable with MeinFernbus. The nearest international airport is Munich.

The newest hotel is the Dorint-Hotel, built in 1985, a simpler category hotel that operates as a 4 star. This is where the federal police are housed during the G7 summit. It has 155 studios and apartments and 8 meeting rooms for a maximum of 240 people, as well as a large spa, with the meeting rooms clearly being the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art facilities in the house. The Bavarian-comfortable furnishings of the hotel and the service are a matter of taste, as well as the hearty food, which is very tastefully served at a buffet.

2. Meetings in the historical Palais Hansen: The Kempinski in Vienna

As in many other cities, Kempinski also houses a historic building in Vienna, the listed Palais Hansen, which was originally built for the World Exhibition in 1873. A first-class address for meetings and company events.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

5 star hotel in the listed building

The listed 5-Superior Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna on the Schottenring is part of the famous boulevard Ringstraße. It was built in neo-renaissance style from 1869 to 1873 by Theophil Hansen and served as a prestigious hotel for the World's Fair 1873.

The building is designed in Neo-Renaissance style and is one of the most important objects of Viennese historicism. Hansen also designed the two blocks west of the Vienna Stock Exchange, which was still used as such until 1998.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

History of the house

After the World's Fair, the hotel was converted into a residential building and used as an office building since 1941. Among other things, the offices of the City Councils for Social Affairs and Health, the Vienna Hospital Association or the Vienna Public Health Office were housed here after 1945.

1997 sold the city of Vienna the building to a consortium of companies that wanted to restore and restore the original hotel use. Since March 2013, the Kempinski leased the Palais Hansen five-star superior hotel. The interior of the hotel was based on the dignified, traditional atmosphere of the house - stylistic extravaganza is therefore sought in vain in the interior design.

Room, fitness and spa

The same applies to the design of the rooms and the meeting rooms: while the fourth floor and the attic hold condominiums, the hotel has 152 rooms and suites, two restaurants, two bars and a cigar lounge on seven floors.

The Mezzanine, the historic mezzanine floor of Palais Hansen, houses the 800 square meter spa. The spa is equipped with a fitness center, various saunas, a hydropool and six treatment rooms.

Culinary

Only good things can be said about the cuisine and the service of the hotel: Especially the breakfast buffet in “Die Küche Wien” leaves nothing to be desired for health-conscious guests, it offers a large selection of fresh fruit, fresh and homemade juices and exotic muesli - and grains such as ameranth or scraped linseed. There are also salads, grilled vegetables and of course normal breakfast items such as bread, eggs and sausage.

It is great that you also respond to unusual requests such as tea with fresh ginger or almond milk and also remembers these extra wishes. In fact, breakfast is one reason why I like to stay at Kempinski's when I have the opportunity.

Cooking events and bar

For lunch and dinner you have the choice between “Die Küche Wien” and the gourmet restaurant “Edvard”, awarded a Michelin star and 17 GaultundMillau points. The dinner is good, light and still tasty. The kitchen also has no problems with throwing over the entire menu sequence for me. The Kempinski also regularly organizes culinary events and pop-up cookings.

The only thing I missed was a terrace to sit outside in the nice weather. Instead, there is the “Lobby Lounge and Bar” and the “Cigar Lounge” at all times of the day, and in the evening you can visit the still new bar “26 ° EAST” - the name is based on the 26th east longitude.

Excursion possibilities and evening arrangement

The location of the hotel, which is on the one hand directly connected to the Ringbahn as well as to the U-Bahn, on the other hand also directly in the historical old town proves to be great for the evening arrangement.

Therefore, many of Vienna's most important attractions, such as the Hofburg, the Museumsquartier or St. Stephen's Cathedral, are within walking distance, but you can also visit the Burgtheater, Volkstheater, Opernhaus or one of the numerous gardens or the open-air events in the Rathaus in summer , Who likes it a bit hipper, is a side trip to the still young 7. Scene district recommended.

An excellent hotel

Overall, once again confirms: Kempinski is, especially with regard to the service and the cuisine, always recommended for me and is characterized above all by his friendly and competent staff.

3. G7 Location in La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada: Whale watching with Merkel, Macron and Trudeau

fairmont-0

The G7 summit begins today in La Malbaie, Canada, in the French province of Quebec. We visited the G7 Hotel Le Manoir Richelieu some time ago and talk about the possibilities as an event location. To Schloss Elmau is the second G7 hotel we visited.

Historic hotel

On a cliff above the 29 KM Broad St. Lawrence River perched in La Malbaie, Canada, the castle hotel Le Manoir Richelieu and room for events up to 1000 people. A little kitsch is also there.

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is a Canadian company with luxury hotels and resorts in 18 countries worldwide.

The Fairmont Group

In Canada, Fairmont is known for its characteristic and famous historic hotels, all of which are related to historicism, with Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance and Art Deco banners attached.

One of these is the Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, originally built as 1899, but 1928 was completely destroyed by a fire. In its present form, the 1929 hotel was rebuilt and 1998 completely renovated. Nevertheless, the decor seems a bit old-fashioned to kitschy.

fairmont
fairmiont6

Rooms

The hotel has 405 Double Rooms of different categories: There are simple rooms, rooms overlooking the St. Laurence River, and luxury rooms with and without views, which are between 20 and 30 square meters in size.

The 17 suites all have views and are sometimes double or almost three times as large. A room costs depending on the offer from 136 Euro per night (source: various online booking portals).

fairmont
fairmont

Meeting venues

In addition, the hotel has 2.500 square meter meeting space on one floor: two large ball halls can accommodate up to 1.000 people. In addition, there are 12 smaller meeting rooms for smaller groups such as the original Murray Salon. The prices for meetings are negotiating, however, there are discounts and special offers when booking larger room quotas.

Nice is the clubhouse at 27-hole golf course with its restaurant Le Point Cardinal: It is, however, a few meters away from the hotel on top of the mountain. But the view is unsurpassable and in the evening there is the possibility to look into the stars with a telescope. Only the service did not convince me: my order was smoothly forgotten.

fairmont meeting2

Wide range of restaurants and activities

At all, the size and variety of the offer is evident. The hotel also has two other restaurants, the Le Charlevoix and Le Bellerive, as well as several brass bands and bars. The food is largely oriented to the French cuisine and is, apart from the bread, very good.

fairmont

There is also a complete fitness center, a spa area with 22 treatment rooms, an indoor pool and an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a casino which is open to hotel guests as well as riding stables. For all guests to arrive, there are 1.200 parking spaces.

golf
fairmont

Whale watching as a special highlight

In addition, the hotel, in cooperation with various partners, allows many other activities such as mountain biking, hiking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledging or sledging. The whale watching is one of the outstanding activities that can be done elsewhere.

In the mouth of the Saguenay, the Saint Lawrence River is home to a variety of different species of whales, including blue and fin whales, as well as white whales that can not be found anywhere else. If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I would not believe it. The reason is that the wide mouth of the river acts like a funnel into which the food from the sea is washed. Organizer AML offers Zodiac inflatable boats and small cruise ships. The former are, of course, more uncomfortable, but the whales are even closer.

fairmont

Location especially for large events

The Le Manoir Richelieu is a great location for large events. This hotel with its pompous romance is rather not suitable for small, quiet events in a natural environment, just as you imagine as a European Canada. This may be due to the fact that I was there on a weekend at the end of August and in the hotel three! Weddings at the same time.

However, the hotel is also very well-suited for mass tourism, albeit the high price category, and also takes the demand from the capital Quebec City, which is located only one car away from home.

4. Meetings like Obama, NATO and the EU: By canoe through Strasbourg

Alsace is not only the birthplace of the liberty statue and seat of the European Parliament, but a very diverse meeting place: culinary, cultural and activities offer a varied accompanying program for all kinds of meetings.

strasbourg-alsac5

Paddling through the historic old town

One of the greatest experiences one can do is to cross a historical old town such as Strasburg by canoe - under historic bridges, through the old tanner quarters, past colorful half-timbered houses and cozy wine taverns with a terrace.

Quite leisurely we are paddled into the city on the Ille, the fast-flowing Ille, a tributary of the Rhine, has given us a lot of work.

strasbourg-alsac3
strasbourg-alsac11

Chateau de I'lle

We paddled off at the Chateau de I'lle, a castle built in the 19th century, which today houses a five-star hotel with 62 rooms - and has 5 conference rooms for up to 250 people, which companies such as Dr. Oettker or Bosch housed.

Just behind you can climb the canoes of provider Alsace Canoë and Paddle on the river Ille - for up to 100 participants at the same time this pleasure is possible and requires no basic knowledge - even if it is a little unusual for beginners like us to steer a canoe.

strasbourg-alsac9

With 20 boats through the sluice

Only at the lock it becomes a little hectic. We should keep to the right on the wall and have to wait to get into the lock, have a barge on the Batorama, those flat excursion boats, with which you can explore Strasburg in the more comfortable way from the water.

With 20 and more boats, I imagine it is difficult, but our guide Philippe Heitz has gone away. Not for nothing, you can drive the waterways of Strasburg only with a permit, but not just with the private boat.

Obama's first European appearance

Strasbourg is the seat of the European Parliament. 2009 has spoken here US President Obama at the great Nato summit in the Rohan Palace for the first time on European soil.

In the beginning of 18. The archbishop's castle, which was built in the 18th century, was once spent by the French queen Marie-Antoinette on her first night in France, later Napoleon slept here - copies of both bedrooms can still be admired. Today, two rooms can be rented here for meetings and receptions for up to 290 people - including the McDonalds Foundation and the European Army.

Receptions amidst art

Another beautiful location is the historic building L'Aubette 1928. Originally built in 1778, it was rebuilt in the XNUMXs by the Dutch painter Theo van Doesburg with the help of the artist couple Arp and transformed into an avant-garde masterpiece:

In 3 halls between 120 and 250 square meters, a maximum of 400 people can meet here for meetings and dances. Not infrequently, the European Parliament uses the rooms for its festivities. By the way, its rooms as well as the Council of Europe can be rented for certain events - but the event must in some way be connected to the European idea.

The red hall in the congress center

The largest conference rooms, however, are located in the music and convention center, which is undergoing extensive reconstruction and is to be finished in the middle of 2016. The already finished rooms such as the Red Hall can already be visited today.

Compared to the European Parliament with two four-star hotels in the immediate vicinity, the conference center then offers 50.000 m2 on two levels, including three auditoriums with 2.000, 1.200 and 500 seats, 25 conference rooms with 20 and 500 seats and a hosting area of 2.000 m2. Together with the adjoining exhibition grounds, it will have 40.000m2 exhibition space and four halls.

strasbourg-alsac7

Meetings in the auditorium

The historic old town of Strasbourg is already World Heritage site of the UNESCO, the German city of Neutstadt built under 1871 under German rule. In both, other exciting meeting rooms can be found, also popular among German companies such as Siemens, Daimler, Bayer, Markant or BMW.

The auditorium of the philosophical faculty is very beautiful: three Nobel Prize winners teach at the University of Strasbourg, it is one of the five best universities in France and the one hundred best in the world. The auditorium therefore costs 15.000 euros for one evening, and there is space for a maximum of 500 people. Since the seminar rooms are located around the auditorium, it cannot be rented at any time.

Tips for the historic old town

The historic old town with its winding half-timbered architecture offers a traditional ambience for smaller meetings. Representative is the Hotel Bouclier d'Or, which has been renovated and remodeled for two years in accordance with the preservation order. The extremely stylish interior was also carefully researched.

The hotel has 22 rooms, a very nice, small meeting room in the courtyard for up to 20 people - and a very high quality breakfast. Above all, it impresses with an outstanding service at five-star level. This is reflected in room prices of 200 Euro per night.

Strasbourg-Colmar-Alsac-1

Culinary and the oldest wine in the world

Overall, Strasbourg and the surrounding area offer 10.000 hotel rooms - in small private hotels and large chains. Of course, you can not miss the culinary delights: good and typical Alsatian-hearty food is eaten at Le Tire Bouchon, which also offers space for meetings. Also very good and with a picturesque terrace view directly on the Ill is the Maison des Tanneurs. One of the most famous restaurants in Strasbourg is the Maison Kammerzell, right next to the cathedral, which convinced me neither in terms of culinary nor service.

If you want to organize wine tasting, you should do so in the historic wine cellar “Cave des hospices civils de Strasbourg”: Founded in 1395, it originally belonged to the hospital above it, but is now privately owned and houses the oldest wine in the world from 1472. Up to 90 people can sit here for a wine tasting between the historic barrels. You can no longer try the old wine, of which 400 liters are still preserved, as it is much too acidic with a pH of 2,28%.

The creator of the Statue of Liberty

Even more wine-typical activities can be enjoyed in the Colmar, about 30 minutes away, and in the somewhat out-of-the-way wine village of Egisheim. In Colmar, 1834 was born to the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, the creator of the statue of liberty.

The city is also famous for its half-timbered architecture, its canals, which earned it the name "Little Venice" - and the Isenheim Altar, which was created by Niklaus von Haguenau and Matthias Grünwald between 1512 and 1516 and is usually located in the Unterlinden Museum , one of the most famous French art museums, which is currently being extensively expanded and converted.

Historic meeting locations

As a starting point for all activities, the centrally located Hotel Mercure Champ de Mars is located right next to the historic old town.

It is a straightforward, but well-maintained 3 star hotel with surprisingly good breakfast and three meeting rooms, which can be combined on request. As a historical conference center Colmar offers the Koifhus from the year 1480, whose rooms I unfortunately did not see.

Strasbourg-Colmar-Alsac-5

Fresh Tatar and an Alsatian pope

For me, the real discovery of Colmar is the culinary art: the Bartholdi restaurant offers original Alsatian, hearty cuisine - the Tatar is still freshly mixed by hand in front of the guests. The Brasserie L'Auberge at the train station is also very good.

The 6 KM outside Eguisheim is one of the most famous wine villages on the Alsace Wine Route - birthplace of the only Alsatian pope Leo IX and known for its colorfully colored houses. Here you can do all sorts of win activities and rides through the vineyards.

Strasbourg-Colmar-Alsac-4

Teambuilding

The company Trace Verte from Mutzig offers team building activities of all kinds that I couldn't try, and they offer everything from indoor activities to wine and gourmet events to geocaching and snow activities such as biathlon in the nearby Vosges and Black Forest to offer. Customers included Hager, Adidas, Appel or Merk.

Crack point arrival

Sticking point with Strasbourg is the journey. There are no direct flights from Germany to Strasbourg. Airberlin and German Wings fly to Baden Baden, about half an hour away, from where there is a bus transfer.

The TGV runs once a day from Frankfurt directly to Strasbourg, this rate is to be increased from April 2016. The nearest ICE station is Offenburg, from here you can take a regional train half an hour to Strasbourg. However, as this train is getting crowded for larger groups and with a lot of luggage, the very well-organized Strasbourg Convention Center recommends that you organize a transfer by bus or car.

5. Berlin business hotel right in the center

You can also meet Politker Live directly at their location in Berlin, in the vicinity of the Melia Berlin, which is right in the center of the German capital, only 150 m from Friedrichstrasse train station and thus offers its business clientele a perfect location and accessibility .

The hotel is located on the world-famous shopping boulevard Friedrichstrasse. Just over 1 km away are Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, Checkpoint Charlie and the most interesting sights of Berlin. In addition, more than 170 museums, cultural performances by leading orchestras, ballet and opera, numerous theaters, variety shows, revues and cabarets, offering all sorts of stage entertainment, are waiting to be discovered.

Modern minimalism in the outfit

The hotel was built in the year 2006, the last partial renovation took place in the year 2017. You can tell that from the hotel. The 364 rooms and suites of different categories are decorated in a modern, minimalist design and have excellent soundproofing that will keep you quiet in spite of traffic noise or storms.

Particularly noteworthy for me is the view of Spree and Friedrichstrasse or over the city with a view of the Berlin TV tower. In the lower floors, however, you see a rather dark backyard instead of television. Two more drawbacks: The air conditioning can not be switched off or at least I did not find the appropriate function right away. And although you can log in as a guest for free in the WLAN, but then only 10 MB are available. In times when you sometimes need to make Skype calls or send larger files, that's pretty meager.

International atmosphere not only in the culinary arts

You can also enjoy the view in the sauna area with terrace over the roofs of Berlin, which is supplemented by a fitness room, as well as in the exclusive The Level Lounge, where discerning travelers can retreat and enjoy the gastronomic offer and other extras.

This brings us to the culinary offer: The Meliá Tapas Bar deserves special mention here. which offers traditional tapas and Mediterranean specialties in an authentic Spanish ambience. In general, you not only notice the Spanish roots of the hotel when it comes to the food, but also the very friendly staff and guests - an international atmosphere is guaranteed.

Conferences, meetings and technology

Finally, the Meliá Berlin offers a large, bright conference area with 7 conference rooms, which are spread over a total area of 1.200 square meters and can be partially interconnected. This includes the grand ballroom, which seats up to 650 people.

A dedicated team that is responsible for meetings, events and the associated technology ensures professional processes. Particularly noteworthy: The non-smoking hotel has an underground car park with Tesla Destination Charging.
