Yesterday we released part 1 with the results of the crosspro research user survey. In the study, which has been running since October 2008, jobseekers are looking for job-exchanges and job search machines according to different criteria. 16.511 Reviews have been submitted so far. The interesting result: Job search engines are at the forefront, followed by special job exchanges. Generalist portals generally have poorer ratings.

No surprise: job search machines in front of job exchanges

Overview

The survey results make it clear that there is a generic competition between generalists, specialists and job search engines. In the favor of job seekers, the job search engines in terms of satisfaction and search quality are at the top, followed by special job sites. The generalists achieve worse overall ratings.

For me, no surprise: Job search engines offer a much broader overview, since you not only point to a restricted job pool, but also comb the entire offer. I already wrote about that.

Generalist Jobbörsen: A lot of marketing, little behind it?

Overview

However, the number of reviews developed rather in opposite directions: generalists have received with 11.499 reviews almost ten times as much reviews as special job fairs (1.254) or job search engines (1.541).

The reason for this is likely to lie in the much higher profile of the general career portals - promoted by intensive marketing campaigns. However, as the degree of satisfaction shows, the results are significantly better for the specialists.

Trends in user satisfaction

Overview

The conceptual design of the user survey as a permanent survey makes it possible to detect trends in the dynamic market of the recruiting portals and to make developments visible, for example, whether improvements in individual job portals regarding functionality or search technology are also reflected in the user's judgments.

In the comparison of the last 12 months, there are some marked shifts in the favor of the job seekers.

Xing and Experteer in front

Overview

The job portals XING Jobs and Experteer have improved, Monster and Stellenanzeigen.de have changed little. The following figure shows the changes in the degree of satisfaction in the course of time during a selection of general job exchanges.

Throughout the survey since 2008 the employment agency has been able to improve continuously in the evaluations of the users - not least an effect of the relaunch of this job exchange. The following figure shows the development of the average satisfaction in the course of time for the job exchange of the employment agency.

Target group selection easier with specialists

Overview

The first litter in the selection of the job exchange must sit. Therefore the recruiting success depends not only on general quality characteristics but also on the choice of the right target group. If recruiters want to reach the right target group, job advertisements must be shown in job portals that are also frequented by the advertised job seekers.

In particular, the general job exchanges, which are active for all professional groups, sectors and regions, sometimes show considerable differences in the composition of their target groups or applicant profiles. User ratings available through 16.000 can be selected based on specific career-related criteria to further differentiate audience selection.
