Statistics on the acceptance of further training?
Unfortunately, there are no statistics on the acceptance and success of further training on the labor market in Germany. This also certainly depends on the breadth and complexity of the offer.
After all, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) polls 4.500 training facilities several times a year to find out about the trends and qualification needs of further education. Information about the success of a Further training can be derived here only indirectly.
Integration Statistics of the Federal Agency for Labor
A slightly better source is the inclusion statistics of the Federal Agency for Employment, which are only recorded by the training financed by the Arbeitsagentur. According to this, approximately 60% of the participants are no longer unemployed six months after graduation.
But beware: This group includes not only employees subject to social security contributions but also those who are now in 400-Euro jobs and other precarious jobs, as well as those who have become self-employed after the training. It is also not clear from the statistics which occupations are pursued afterwards and whether they have anything to do with further education at all.
Younger people have better chances
However, the statistics clearly show a trend: younger graduates of advanced training and better qualified employees, such as those who have completed a vocational qualification, have better chances of finding a job after a further education. In addition, measures which have been implemented directly in the company seem particularly successful.
Another possibility: ask directly from the educational institutions where you would like to continue your education, for information on how good the chances are for finding the hoped-for job or position after the training. In any case, you should take a closer look at the training provider personally.
Often, information is missing
However, a test conducted by the Stiftung Warentest in the Novemberheft 2003 shows that advice is often lacking on this topic. So you have to ask for it. For example, which exam is taken at the end.
In the case of professional qualifications, please make sure that the examination you make at the end of the course is also recognized by the state. In the case of language and computer skills, for example, you should pay attention to an international or at least Europe-wide recognition.
Information of professional associations
Information on the recognition of continuing education is also given by the respective professional associations, depending on the sector. Training institutions often also provide internal statistics on the success of their graduates:
How many graduates find a job afterwards? What is the diarrhea rate? And is there a questioning of the participants how satisfied they were with the course? Ask for specific information about whether or not you are allowed to view such information (there may be data protection issues).
Training must be practical
In VET, it is also important that the training is practical: if the training includes internships and project work, or even dual in the workplace, in addition to the practical parts, this improves the chances of having a job afterwards, perhaps even in the corresponding one To obtain a company.
If, on the other hand, you receive only very generalized and inaccurate answers to a specific question about the content and usefulness of further training, or if the provider refuses to provide information, you should be suspicious. A more objective picture may be obtained by participants who have already completed their training or are still involved, For example, via the bulletin boards, internet forums, the educational institution or the work advisor of the employment agency.
Contact to graduates
Even if they are not allowed to publish addresses due to data protection, you may be able to contact them in individual cases. Ultimately, however, you have to realize that no one can really tell you whether the training will take you further.
It may be that a measure that has brought something to 50 people brings you nothing at all and vice versa. This always depends on what you make of it.
