When creating a concept, different threads must come together: researching and evaluating information, opinions in the Teams catch up, collect the facts and finally formulate a conclusion.
Some of this work can be done by you, but should be scheduled accordingly, while other activities rely on information, work or decisions of third parties - and you should again plan appropriate buffer times!
Do not underestimate time
In most cases, the time required is greatly underestimated, because the entirety of the individual activities is not overlooked at first.
In addition, as a rule, the "normal job" will continue to be handled in the same quality. Then the conceptual work collides with the demands of everyday life.
Tip: Stay Realistic!
Take the time for a realistic schedule. Break down the concept work package into individual components and make time estimates for each phase. Mostly things last as long as we give you time.
By setting the time requirements, you limit these already once. Then book the appropriate appointments in your calendar for yourself and your concept. This will allow you to plan your time more effectively and to make binding commitments at all.
Use the power of the questions
How many good ideas fail? Frequently, you do not have enough ideas with others to make concepts a solution to a problem. What helps immensely: Correctly ask!
You can reach the common understanding through a targeted discussion. Sounds easy, but is difficult in real time, will you say?
Questions do not cost anything
No, because there is a means that improve communication in almost all situations: questions. Remember:
- Questions do not cost anything.
- And there are no stupid questions.
This is how questions help you
Much more structure questions the discussions, thoughts and the mental map to the topic discussed. Questions actually help to get other call participants in the boat.
Questions are, therefore, the most important tool in conversation control at all. Unfortunately, this means is used too little in communication.
Questions - but right!
For one thing, too little is asked. On the other hand, the questioning, if it takes place at all, often not very purposeful and awkward.
Only too often does it appear arbitrary, bites down on details, and then ends in one or other dead end. However: to ask good questions in a meaningful structure is a question of targeted preparation.
If you do not know what to ask: Create checklists with specific, situation-related questions, which they will then have ready in the specific case.
Structure information correctly
Concepts and strategies are not developed from the hollow hand, you also need a lot of information for it. However, too much unstructured information is a problem, the right balance is important.
In the beginning, you may take any information that you can get on the topic. After a certain period of familiarization with a topic, you are confronted with a wealth of information, connections, causes, possible effects, potential approaches - the information network is getting bigger, the complexity is increasing.
Orientation urgently necessary
Before you go deeper into the jungle of the information or jump up arbitrarily to any thought-provoking track, make sure you first look for orientation.
Use targeted information processing and structuring tools to help you keep track.
Provide an overview, for example, in the form of a mindmap and a clear structure before you begin the detailed work or the writing work.
