Communication in everyday life: all-normal-and-easy-so
Everyday communication takes place wherever informal information is exchanged. To a large extent, the dealings with customers are also handled through this everyday communication.
But what is hidden behind the concept? In contrast to the balanced literary language, there is no general definition for the everyday language. Everyday life is just as diverse and complex as communication.
It is characterized by speech. Formulated is not in well-balanced words, as in prepared lectures or written texts, but spontaneously from the moment out. The immediately used vocabulary of the everyday language is scarcer and the sentence length shorter.
On the other hand, the breadth of the emotions is greater by the assumption of the immediate mood than by the calculated dialogue. It appears to be somewhat more sloppy, more saloppy, but less precise.
In everyday communication as well, contents are conveyed - articulated by the spoken word - in passing, on the telephone, on a trip together, etc. And no different from a lecture or a presentation, this usually effortlessly formulated information makes up only a fraction of what arrives at the other party. The big "rest" is taken over by other influencing factors:
The milieu as a defining factor
The milieu is the defining factor. Where is the communication taking place? At a sales fair, at the research lab, at the construction site? With their often hidden codes, milieufaktoren create an aura of belonging.
Vendors have their own language, regardless of industry and operations, they have managers, as well as janitors, controllers or IT specialists. They all cultivate "their" language. Statements such as "typical boardroom", "typical IT-ler" or "typical salesman" emphasize that there are milieu-specific language variants within or within the company, which have evolved significantly over time.
The role as an established element
Our language varies depending on who we are in dialogue with, ie what role we are currently taking. Every communication establishes itself with the role identification. In a conversation with regular customers, the role is different as in the conversation with the Chef.
Out of regulated role patterns everyday dialogues emerge very fast. If the roles are unclear or need to be developed, it will cost you energy. Who is who? Which role is intended for me? Am I "just the substitute" or "the competent advisor"?
Presence as a paradigm
Without presence nobody can score. It is the paraded discipline in every dialogue. To be present means to focus on the moment, to take the complaint partner seriously on the phone, to recognize only vaguely signaled interest.
Anyone who is open to the conversation partner in his / her individual personality has a convincing and convincing effect. Mere adjustment, however, does not work and is quickly perceived as hypocrisy.
The whole body speaks
If our body communicates something other than what is said, the spoken language becomes irrelevant talk without a message or impulse.
Everyday communication has no lead. Since everyone reacts differently in different situations, the dialogue arises from constant impulses - from inside and outside. The other's statement is received as an impulse through the senses and keeps the dialogue alive.
