Change your perspective!
The glass is half empty or half full? We know that it would be better to look at the glass of life, of difficult tasks, of challenging crises optimistically and decisively as half-full.
But this way of thinking is often difficult for us. Perspective techniques make this perspective change so important for all living situations. One of these techniques even comes without words.
Smile and humor
What would be the worst that a superior, customer or colleague could do to you? To do so, formulate a sentence. One is enough. Say it halfway. How does that feel? Of course: bad. And now you say the same sentence with a Mickey Mouse voice - or any other funny or distorted voice that comes to mind. Sing him, squeal, shriek, whisper him. How does your mood change?
By the way, you can do the same thing with a purely facial expression change: smile! Now. No, don't stop again! Hold the smile for 60 seconds - that's tough. Beginners rarely do that. The vegetatively released endorphins hormonically effect the change of perspective. Humor is one of the oldest techniques of reframing: When Uncle Karl opened his pants at the back of the hem at niece Leni's wedding, he was so embarrassed. But at the next family birthday, who gave this story for the best amusement of everyone? Uncle Karl. He says: "If you laugh, please, because I'm telling the joke!" Perfect change of perspective.
The US scientist Dr. Juli Henderson is one of the world's leading luminaries of the so-called Embodiment (reading tip: “Embodying Well-Being”, AJZ Druck und Verlag). She has discovered and tested dozens of physical exercises that can be used to somatically force a change in perspective, so to speak.
Are you facing a major professional challenge and are you “up to it”, are you frustrated or “down”? Then yawn. Once again. And again. Or shake like a dog after a bath. Once again. And again. Or hop up and down like a bouncy ball. What is not that crazy from a somatopsychical point of view: All of these exercises bring about an immediate change in mood. The only requirement: your perception is sharp enough to recognize the change (and thus to intensify it).
When everything happens, when everything goes down the drain, we can still stop the fall into hopelessness with a question and turn around. Guess them? Of course, what can I learn from it? Especially from disasters, we often learn more than from success - if we want to learn. Another change of perspective is:
What is the Sense behind all of this? Negotiating four hours without result with a customer who has already agreed and does not sign? What is the point of that? Good question. A saleswoman once told me: "That the next time I will notice after an hour if there is no conclusion."
And another perspective question: “What do I want? And what would be good for me? ” A choleric supervisor confessed to me in the coaching: “Folding a delinquent employee together - that will tear the day out of me! But then I ask myself: You are in the mood for this now - but is it good for you? And then I leave it. In any case, more often than if I don't ask the question. ” Perfect change of perspective.
Do you have a difficult task? Do you lose your desire to work? Before you get even harder to sit or do something stupid: change the perspective! There is nothing to lose - and to win everything.
