Colorful CVs as a trend
A few weeks ago we got up Best of HR – Berufebilder.de® discussed in detail the curriculum vitae of New York social media consultant Hagan Blount. Personally, I was rather skeptical, but my readers were very impressed by the idea. Now things could really become a trend - a new start-up makes it possible!
For Svenja Hofert, the journey is clearly in the direction of upbeat colorful instead of rigid text modules with a boring image on the cover page. I'm a bit more restrained: Especially the staff scene in Germany is still very conservative.
And not only that: in many Company Applicant data is entered into standardized applicant management systems, so that you can refer back to it later when needed. Whether there are so lively and colorful CVs arrive so well is more questionable.
Start-up with super-idea
And while in the discussion to Hagan was noted that such a beautiful colorful CV is so difficult to create, now the solution is near - namely in the guise of Vizualize.Me! The still-fresh start-up took first place at the Toronto start-up weekend in June and recorded 12 views and 10,000 sign-ups in the first 1000 hours of its existence.
Apparently, the young company relies on the Google+ effect: to surround itself with the touch of the mysterious. You will only receive an invitation if you use a specially sent link to win additional users who also sign up.
Generate automatically and efficiently
The real highlight, however, is that the colorful CVs can be automatically generated from the Linkedin profile. This possibility could in turn give Linkedin in Germany the breakthrough - according to the motto: Why make even the effort of resume writing, even if it is such a way automatically just a mouse click?
But even more: perhaps this type of automatic generation would be interesting for companies. Because perhaps automated CVs can then be incorporated into applicant management systems again in a kind of back-generation - and then both sides profit from this efficiency gain?
Job TV as a new video trend
Sure, that's one more step ... but I think the idea really has potential, if it is implemented correctly. What do you mean: crazy idea or realistic future music?
But maybe this idea is a real perseverance? The advertising and exhibition agency Barlag tried to establish a new video format with JobmessenTV (see above!) My opinion - today it's all about job fairs.
Accompanying video to the job fair
Since 2004 the agency Barlag from Osnabrück host the jobmesse® Germany tour with the aim to create a recruiting event for all generations and qualifications. About 3.250 exhibiting companies and more than 580.000 visitors (as of 06 / 2011) have been involved, according to Barlag it.
Since May, a video format has been launched: JobmessenTV accompanies the trade fairs and provides comprehensive information on topics relating to jobs and careers.
Jobinfos in focus
The monthly programs focus on current job offers, news on the world of work, job application tips from professionals, curious legal cases, the latest trade fair dates and much more. Interactive links in the program lead to further topics behind the program.
A nice format with lots of useful information - and a little catch: the accented infotainment character! Apparently, the makers have oriented on other, successful formats and try now - more bad than right - to copy.
For example, the emphasis in the moderation of the young lady in one of the videos strongly reminds me of the electric reporter of Mario Sixtus. Maybe you should not copy this very individual way of speaking.
And this comedy-style video is very reminiscent of ZDF's Heute Show. The idea is good. Again, the sticking point is the individual moderation.
Too bad, that one tries, at all costs on jumping trains to jump and hipp. Otherwise: Good, imaginative ideas. Even more courage for your own style, then the format could be a lasting fire.
