E-books are on the rise - as evidenced by the Danish e-book publisher Bookboon, which is portrayed here by the BBC. But how does the collaboration with Bookboon actually work and why as a reader can you download my texts for free?

For a long time, I had been looking for a simple and practical solution to make my texts available as e-books to my readers. Because e-books have the big advantage compared to the blog that you can read them offline on the mobile phone.

E-books cost time and money

The disadvantage, however, is that they are a lot of work: The texts do not just have to be put into a coherent text form, but also formatted and layouted.

This, in turn, causes great expense and expense. And in order to play it, I would have to offer the e-books again. This, in turn, would have created an even greater expenditure on technology:

Cost use Bill

For example, the installation of a secure online shop with a data protection lawful payment system and a download server. And at the latest the matter became critical. So no e-books for my readers?

A partner had to come here. And that was Bookboon. Bookboon.com is a subsidiary of Ventus Publishing, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. Since its founding, 1988 has been the focus of Ventus Publishing's publication of educational books for students and business people.

Free download as an additional service

Since 2005 that sets Company with bookboon.com exclusively on free ebooks. Readers need to provide a few dates for download. The whole thing is financed by a small advertisement in the book. As a result, I also earn a few euros as an author for compiling and writing the texts.

But I have no further effort with it and you as a reader can now download my texts for free. And not only mine: Bookboon.com is active worldwide and offers a selection of 1000 e-books that users can download directly from the website.

The business model

The publisher currently records 10 million downloads annually. Its current headquarters has bookboon.com in London with additional offices in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Munich.

  1. Burnout Syndrome: A Case for Disability Insurance | Berufebilder by Simone Janson

[…] On March 2, 2006, the Munich Regional Court issued a model judgment on the subject of burnout and mental illness: According to this, the burnout syndrome was clearly classified as an insured event. A manager had filed a lawsuit after a doctor confirmed that he was unable to work, but the insurance company refused to pay. It is clear once again that mental disorders are more and more a case for occupational disability insurance. This is positive on the one hand, but also negative on the other, because now many insurance companies will take a closer look at pre-existing mental illnesses before taking out disability insurance. What exactly you need to consider when taking out disability insurance can be found in my series of articles on disability insurance: [...]
