Realize your own idea

School was not what he imagined. Side jobs were not “his thing,” as Alexander Käppler calls it. "I was in a bad mood every night and felt like I was giving someone else some free time with my work." There was only independence!

Because to realize his own idea, that was his thing. And the thing is called Riversnack - a kind of floating snack bar that Berliners use day in and day out on the Havel and Wannsee to sell sausages, drinks and other snacks. At least in summer when the weather is good. In winter he prefers to go fishing and works as a voice actor in Spandau.

Market gap recognized

The unusual idea came to the then XNUMX-year-old exactly where he works today: “One day I was sitting on the Havel and almost dried up from thirst!” says Käppler, who quickly recognized the gap in the market: “I wondered what kind of country we live in, where there are places where you can relax wonderfully but nobody comes and bring you something to drink. And I knew what I wanted to be! ”

Unfortunately, with the implementation, it didn't work out like that, as Käppler imagined, because the basic requirement was missing: the right boat, on which a floating snack bar could also be installed! So for two more years, they had to do side jobs and save money.

With tenacity and negotiation sent

But then the Berliner was lucky and proved able to negotiate: “While fishing, I saw a family sitting and barbecuing on a floating platform! I just had to go and ask if I could buy this thing from them. Incredibly, they really sold it to me - and it was cheap, because expensive was not possible! I didn't have much money! ”

The capital came from “the little that the boss left me before” - and from his mother, reports the young entrepreneur. Because it gave him not only money but also "Live your dreams" and a trusting "Cool, do it, you do it" along with him. And Alexander Käppler made: In his own work, he equipped the floating platform with a rail, a grill, refrigerators and a roof.

Sit out criticism and obstacles

Not everyone around him was enthusiastic about the idea: “Most of the people I told about my idea asked me what I wanted to do in winter. I immediately thought of fishing! ” 'Yes no, don't you want to learn something?' 'I will do! Billing, paying rent, and I also learn to value my own time. ' ”Reports Käppler with a smile about his dealings with his critics. Try it yourself, he thinks, is faster than studying and criticizing!

The bureaucracy also put all kinds of obstacles in his way: “I ran from office to office and presented my idea. But how could it be otherwise, of course nobody knew who was responsible! ” But persistence sometimes pays off: “Apparently you were so surprised and probably also annoyed by me, because I made it very clear how important this idea is to me, that you sat down at a table with me and considered how my dream was is to be realized. And so I started when I was 23 to sell my boat, bratwurst and drinks on the Havel between Spandau and Wannsee! ”

Riversnack - Alexander KäpplerFor Alexander Käppler, this is the ideal job today: "I am in the fresh air, can go boating all day long, make happy people happy." That's the same thing with an outdoor pool and the flea market and the zoo and the beer garden! ”

Even if the snack captain for the future "actually only wants to live with a dog on a houseboat at some point and feed fish all day", he is already tinkering with a second career: "I thought that I was old too and maybe it will Sense would become a well-known comedy star - and started my acting training. ”

The second stand

Even if Käppler says of himself that he has a roof damage, he implemented this idea with the same determination as his boat snack: “I discovered a dubbing studio while walking in Berlin-Spandau and simply decided to say 'hello' .
